<image:caption>Cadeby Homes is a family-run business and each member of the team has a real passion for building the perfect family home in desirable towns and villages across Leicestershire. The team hand-picks the locations for the developments based on knowledge of the local area, only building homes within 20 mile radius of the office. From planning through to the move-in day and beyond, the directors pride themselves in being with the homebuyers every step of the way through the journey. This unique approach very much needed to be reflected in the design of each development. With a brief of refreshing the brand without changing the long-established logo, I moved away from the very corporate navy blue they were currently using. Each development now has its own chosen earthy colour to reflect the family business’s farming background, as well as a hand drawn illustration to suggest the hands-on nature of the business. Typography doesn’t change so that each development is easily recognisable as a Cadeby Homes site, despite the colour change and illustration. As a homeowner currently in the process of and selling our home for something larger, I am rather envious when a new development brief lands in my inbox.</image:caption>

<image:caption>In 2019, existing client Filtermist International, acquired yet another business. This time it was Gallito, a manufacturer of spray booths and industrial ovens, working in a market dominated by cheap products and inferior systems. The rebrand had to show they were a reputable business offering high quality design, production and a full turn-key service. I created a pictorial mark of a 3D box that represented the product and the ‘G’ of Gallito. Formed from strong lines, the graphic also reflects the end-to-end process and ongoing service the company provides to its clients. This ‘G' mark was then used to form abstract boxes and lines for the design rollout of all collateral. LOGO DESIGN BROCHURE DESIGN STATIONERY DISPLAY GRAPHICS ADVERTISING</image:caption>

We both braved self-employment in 2018 and I was delighted she came to me to create her brand. She has many connections from her time working in agencies, so putting her name and face to the business made perfect sense. The gold RR mark was devised to represent her experience and credentials – there are very few other consultants at her level so she really stands out. I am privileged to work closely with her on many branding projects in my portfolio. BRANDING LOGO DESIGN STATIONERY DESIGN ICON DESIGN</image:caption>

<image:caption>Following acquisition, air movement and pollution control systems provider Multi-Fan Systems, needed a new look that would position itself as a key player within Absolent Group, a global group of filtration technology manufacturers. Not only that, it needed to convey instant credibility with clients on the scale of JLR, Michelin and Ricoh so being stand-out was very much part of the brief. A combination of bold colours, simple lines, movement and clean typefaces were incorporated to represent the full turnkey service the business provides. The bespoke brochure format allows customisation for each client and incorporates a range of different print finishing techniques that demonstrate the ‘not-off-the shelf’ nature of the business. <image:caption>With The Prayer Book’s 50th year looming they knew it was time for a brand refresh. Following a brand workshop with Rachel Reeves Consulting it was clear that the brand needed to appeal to a younger generation whilst keeping true to it’s heritage. This was achieved by combining an old-style serif font with a modern sans and a rich period colour palette. A secondary logo with the charity’s acronym was developed for social media posts and when space is limited. Once agreed, photography was commissioned and a roll out of stationery, flyers, banners and a quarterly magazine followed. Working with the brand previously created, I set to work designing the property brochures, advertising and associated collateral for the company’s ever growing new build property portfolio. <image:caption>MFG Solicitors were looking for a new take on their existing branding to differentiate between their external and internal communications. Taking their recognised colour palette of orange and black, I replaced the finely hand drawn illustrations of the external branding for a more easy going style of vector graphic. The new look was then used for their new Values and Behaviours launch event were I came up with illustrative metaphors for each value. It was then rolled out as employee nomination postcards, posters and water bottles. BRANDING INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS ILLUSTRATION DESIGN FOR PRINT</image:caption>

The need to squeeze more value out of less, while achieving something beautiful is the essence of Scandinavian design. <image:caption>Back in March 2020, when people’s marketing budgets where being cut across the globe due to the unknown risks of covid, an old acquaintance got in contact for ‘just a few internal posters’. Luckily for me those few quick jobs spiralled and now four years on I am still working with IQE and their Marketing Director on both internal and external collateral, in the UK, US and Taiwan. 2022 saw a rebrand for the company which meant implementing the new look through all existing collateral as well as new work. From posters, brochures, social media assets, powerpoint slide decks, exhibition stands, datasheets, sub brand indentities, it honestly would be easier to name what I don’t do for IQE and long may it continue.</image:caption>

Going solo whilst navigating a new addition, her story was not dissimilar to mine so there was no doubt about it, I was creating her brand for her. In the years working with Liv I don’t think I ever saw her without perfectly applied lippy and fabulous big hair. She is a walking brand and I knew straight away I had to capture her in an illustrative-style logo. Liv is also an amazing self taught photographer and her personal instagram account gave me what I needed to form the warm colour palette to support the rich red chosen to match that fabulous hair! Probably one of my most fun projects amongst the technology and manufacturing briefs. I wish Liv all the best on her journey of self employment, I’m sure she will make it a success. NB. We have just completed our first branding project together and I can confirm, she is smashing it!</image:caption>

After a process of brand development, a refined architecture was created with new identities for each of the venues sitting under a new venues parent brand. The family of brands allows the business to effectively communicate the unique propositions of each venue, whilst reflecting the choice, flexibility and common values that the group has to offer. <image:caption>Alconex Infrastructure and Solutions Ltd, an independent connection provider, won themselves a new CEO back in 2024. Newly appointed CEO Steve Farmer had an amazing portfolio of big name companies on his cv and Alconex seemed a company a little too small for Steve’s impressive employment history. However, Steve recognised that Alconex had all the potential to sit comfortably with those big names in the future. Aiming to turn Alconex into a multi-million pound company to be proud of, the current branding simply wasn’t cutting it. Within a couple of months of starting, Steve asked me to help review their brand having already undergone a vision and values workshop. What came out of the workshop was that he had a fabulous team and it was going to be a full team effort to make Alconex a success. So I got started… the orange was to stay, none negotiable, but by changing the secondary palette to a variety of rich greens, it bought the identity alive whilst reflecting the sustainability efforts Alconex have pledged. Next step, ditch the 90’s typeface. A simple sans serif as it’s base, I tweaked all the letterforms to much more tubular shapes to reflect their services; gas, water and electric. I then added the ‘smile’ over the n to form a ’smile’ of a happy person, be it, customer or employee because one thing that came out of the workshop was ‘we have fun!’. I then worked up a strapline ‘We connect you’ to further reflect the familiar ‘connection’ between the company and their customers. And voila, a new brand ID that was signed off with no amends!
